IPhone App to Counter Climate Skeptics

Jonathan and I have had a somewhat spirited debate about what to do about Climategate (see here and here).  I just found one perhaps small but very smart answer:  an IPhone app that lists top arguments from climate skeptics and succinct rebuttals. The arguments are divided into three categories:  “it’s not happening,” “it’s not us” and “it’s not bad.”  The arguments are set forth pithily (e.g., “the sun is warming”) and answered in a few quick sentences (e.g., “In the last 35 years of global warming, the sun has shown a slight cooling trend.  The sun and climate are going in opposite directions.”)

So the next time a cranky stepfather or a skeptical colleague engages you in idle chat about why global warming is a hoax, download the app (called “Skeptical Science” because the authors are “getting skeptical about global warming skepticism”) and just hand your phone to them.  Or study the answers for the quick and dirty response.  Best news of all?  The app is free.

If you don’t have an IPhone or an ITouch  you can see the entire app on the Skeptical Science website here.
