2012 California Water Law Symposium: register now

Registration is now open for the 2012 California Water Law Symposium, to be held Saturday, January 21, 2012. The Symposium is a remarkable event, launched in 2005 by a consortium of law students from Bay Area schools. This eighth edition is made possible by the cooperative efforts of students from Berkeley Law (this year’s host), Golden Gate University School of Law, University of San Francisco School of Law, UC Davis School of Law, and UC Hastings College of the Law. In 2010, the Symposium won the ABA Section of Environment, Energy and Resource’s Law Student Program of the Year Award.

This year’s theme is “Water and Growth: The Imperative for Sustainable Approaches to Uncertainty.” The eight panels (running in four concurrent sessions) will cover topics ranging from the water-energy nexus to water banking to a human right to clean drinking water. Frances Spivy-Weber, Vice Chair of the State Water Resources Control Board, will deliver the opening keynote address, and there will be a special lunchtime presentation by Berkeley Law’s Joe Sax.

Students are welcome to attend for free.
