Another Law Professor to Washington
We’ve just received word that Rob Verchick has been appointed the Deputy Associate Administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Policy, Economics, and Innovation (OPEI). OEPI is the main policy arm of the EPA, responsible for supervising the rulemaking process and pushing innovative strategies, among other things. He will report to Associate Administrator Lisa Heinzerling (on leave from Georgetown), who in turn reports to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson.
Rob heads the Loyola (New Orleans) Center for Environmental Law and Land Use. He is also a board member and research scholar with the Center for Progressive Regulation in Washington, D.C. He’s a great addition to the EPA team.

Another lawyer in DC . . .
Just what we need.
Great . . . (sigh)
I have no problem with that, but it ought to be illegal for anyone with a law degree to be a legislator or a judge. Having lawyers making and judging the law is a conflict of interest.
“Progressive Regulation”?
There’s a term fraught with danger…
“Center for Progressive Regulation”? Isn’ this a contradiction in terms?
