An Invitation to Review the Supreme Court’s Environmental Record

This has been a blockbuster year in the U.S. Supreme Court for environmental law and policy. In the Term that concludes this month, the justices have decided five major environmental cases, involving many of the nation’s most important environmental laws.

Berkeley Law’s Center for Law, Energy & the Environment (CLEE), one of the sponsors of Legal Planet, is proud to host a live webcast on Tuesday, June 30th, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. PDT. The webcast will feature environmental law experts from the Berkeley Law faculty, who will review and analyze each of these major, recently-decided U.S. Supreme Court cases:

• Winter v. Natural Resources Defense Council (NEPA/CZMA)
• Summers v. Earth Island Institute (Federal Forest Practices)
• Entergy Corp. v. Riverkeeper, Inc. (Clean Water Act)

The program will also preview the Supreme Court’s upcoming (2009-10) Term, discuss how changes in the Court’s makeup may affect environmental law and policy, and analyze the Roberts Court’s overall environmental law record to date.
